Firm

What sets us apart?

Under the general direction of Mtre Bruno Burrogano and supported by an experienced, competent and effective team, the firm applies the highest standards in the practice of real estate law.

Throughout its existence, our firm has attracted notaries who have distinguished themselves through the excellence of their practice. Several of our past and present members and counsel have excelled in the areas of legal research or university teaching, most notably Mtre Bruno Burrogano and Mtre Nathalie Munger.

To ensure the quality and continuing innovation of its services, in recent years, the firm has welcomed well-respected counsel to its team, including law professors Serge Allard, Denys-Claude Lamontagne and Brigitte Lefebvre, each of them authors of numerous publications.

Our firm has also concluded collaborative agreements with several other firms from Quebec and English Canada.

Fields of practice

Recognized for our expertise in all aspects of real estate law, we are involved in a diverse range of large-scale transactions.

We are largely focused on transactional real estate law, real estate financing, condominium law and title examination. Our interventions cover residential, institutional, commercial and industrial properties, and even extend to railway property law and the installation of pipelines throughout Quebec.

Our clients include financial institutions, real estate developers and owners, investors, universities, transportation companies and other large corporations.

Approach and values

In 1902, our firm was founded on the principles of integrity, reliability, effectiveness and trust, and though life and business have continued to evolve ever since, we remain committed to these values today. Every mandate, regardless of its scale and complexity, is a priority for us.

We have the necessary legal expertise and know how to mobilize the right resources, in the right place, at the right time. In the execution of our mandates, we regularly collaborate with other professionals, including land surveyors, jurists, architects, accountants, tax specialists, etc., to ensure the harmonization of the services involved.

Community involvement

We are proud to support a wide variety of causes, organizations and university scholarships. These include, among others, the University of Montreal’s law scholarship program, the University of Sherbrooke’s Foundation in support of the law library, the Loeys-Dietz Canada Syndrome Foundation and the Chaire du Notariat, created by the Board of Notaries of Québec at the University of Montreal.

In addition, we are currently studying several “pro bono” community projects.

A brief history

Our story began in 1902, when recent University of Montreal graduate René Leroux founded his own law firm. His son Lionel joined him in 1926 and his brother Marc came on board in 1935.

The year 1950 saw the arrival of Marcel Faribault, followed, in 1964, by the founder’s grandson, also named René Leroux, and his cousin Hubert Leroux, in 1965. The firm was renamed Leroux Faribault Leroux.

In 1985, the firm merged with another Montreal notarial law firm: Pelletier Poirier Kimmel Filion. The firm underwent another name change, and became known as Pelletier Poirier Leroux Kimmel.

Bruno Burrogano, who had recently been admitted to the profession, joined the firm in 1988. He quickly gravitated towards real estate law.

Robert Côté joined in 1990, and in the years following, the firm was re-named as Leroux Côté Burrogano.

While its corporate name has evolved over the years, the firm has existed continuously since its founding in 1902.

Our offices are located in the Aldred Building, a unique Art Deco Montreal landmark, located in the heart of the city’s historic business centre, at 507 Place d’Armes in Old Montreal.
