Retired law professor and honorary notary
Denys-Claude Lamontagne was a practicing notary before accepting a position as Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal from 1987 to 2007. He also served as director of the notarial law program at the University of Montreal.
He is the author and co-author of several books, namely on the new Civil Code of Québec and complementary legislation, as well as Biens et propriété, La publicité des droits, Droit de la vente, Droits sur les mutations immobilières, published by Éditions Yvon Blais, and Le droit minier, published by Éditions Thémis. He also wrote some thirty articles on Quebec real estate law. In addition, Denys-Claude was the project leader for a three-volume collection of books on contract law, Droit spécialisé des contrats, at Éditions Yvon Blais.
Now retired, Denys-Claude puts his experience to good use by assisting other notaries in the firm by serving as a mentor.
